Julian Javor, a pilot by hobby, flies shelter dogs to safe locations every weekend. Javor volunteers to transport dogs from shelters to safe homes, a true dog lover at heart.
Javor doesn’t mind if it’s a foster home, a rescue shelter, or a forever home; he will fly rescued shelter dogs and transport them for no cost.
During the week, Javor works in property management and construction and uses his wings on the weekend to help shelter dogs.
Last year in June, Debbie Newton from Valley Springs, an animal rescue group based in CA, contacted Javor on Facebook. She reached out to him for help in transporting a few shelter dogs.
Javor was generous to offer his flying skills and devotion to helping shelter dogs. He immediately agreed to take on the role.
In 2017, Javor received his commercial pilot’s license. When Debbie asked for his help, he considered this an opportunity to build his flying hours.
“I started to look for opportunities that would give me a good reason to fly,” Javor said.
Through his volunteer work, Javor came across Pilots N Paws, a group of pilots and volunteers who help transport animals.
Javor said, “It was exactly what I wanted as far as the challenge. It was also incredibly rewarding. The adoptive family was so happy.”
So far, Javor has transported 223 animals, from newborn kittens to dogs who had been shot or wounded. The volunteer pilot helps animals unite with loving families who give them forever homes.
“In California alone, 1,000 dogs and cats are euthanized daily, and there are millions of dogs and cats that exist in the shelter system whose lives are in jeopardy and who are homeless and afraid.”
“All they want is to receive and give love. So, if people have love in their hearts and space in their homes for these animals they deserve to be given a chance.”
Javor adds, “For me, I am so lucky to have found a way to do what I absolutely love and to do good with it. If people took what they love doing and found a way to give back with that, the world would be a better place.”
