According to the Miami Beach Fire Department, the dog fell into the bay while playing with its owner at a nearby dog park.
On Tuesday, firefighters in Miami Beach saved the day by rescuing a dog that had fallen into the bay accidentally.
The Miami Beach Fire Department posted a rescue video on its Facebook page. The video showed firefighters Santis and Escudero working together to save the water-logged pup.
According to the department, Fire Rescue Truck 22 and Engine 2 responded to the scene after getting a report that a dog fell into the bay.
The Miami Fire Department wrote on Facebook alongside the heart-touching video, “We’re so happy to have been able to help.”
In the video, a firefighter uses a roof ladder perched on the seawall to lower himself into the water, only a few feet away from the distressed dog.
The firefighter jumps into the thigh-deep water and grabs the dog’s harness before hoisting her onto his shoulder. The second firefighter makes his way down the ladder to spot the first as he carries the canine up, the dog begins to wriggle.
When the firefighter reaches the top, he hands the dog over to another first responder, who places her on the ground.
As the dog is lifted back onshore, the phrases “do not pet” and “in training” can be seen printed on her harness.
A small crowd forms as the man behind the camera pats the dog on the head and exclaims, “It’s okay!”
“I’m sorry, guys,” an unidentified woman says before telling her dog to “say thank you” to her rescuers.
As a result, the dog shakes off the excess water, spraying everyone in her immediate vicinity.
Thanks to People for the amazing story. Also, thanks to Miami Beach Fire Department for the video.
