The Arizona Humane Society released a pit bull that just needed a helping hand.
Buddy, a pit bull mix of two years was outside exploring the town, sniffing various things. In the next minute, the poor dog’s head had become wedged in a wall.
According to Fox 10 Phoenix, Buddy was exploring a new construction area when he discovered that the square spaces in cinder blocks are just about the right size to get a pitty head into.
Unfortunately, Buddy discovered that they aren’t quite big enough to get a pitty head out of and he became stuck.
When a Good Samaritan spotted Buddy’s suffering, they contacted the Arizona Humane Society, who sent their Emergency Animal Medical Technician (EAMT) team to assist him.
“Our EAMTs go on calls like these every day,” Kelsey Dickerson, the Arizona Humane Society’s public relations specialist, told Daily Paws. “They were able to acquire authorization from the owner to break the wall because it was a new build.”
With a hammer and chisel, EAMT personnel slowly chipped away the cinder block until they could liberate the trapped doggo.
Buddy waits calmly as the EAMTs struggle to break him out. The Arizona Humane Society released a pit bull video on their YouTube channel.
“He was all tail wiggles after he was freed,” Dickerson adds. “You could tell he appreciated it.”
Buddy was subsequently taken back to the Humane Society’s trauma center. He received treatment for minor cuts and swelling around his neck. Buddy was initially assumed to be a stray, but they were able to track down his mother after completing an online search, making this story even happier.
According to Dickerson, all pet owners should make sure their pets have properly fitting collars with tags and contact information.
She also emphasizes the highlights of having your pets microchipped.
Buddy wasn’t microchipped when he arrived, but the Arizona Humane Society made sure to give him one before returning him to his appreciative mother, making it much easier for him to be discovered if he ever wandered away.
But, for the time being, he’s back home, happy, and maybe a little bit wiser when it comes to those bothersome wall holes.
Thanks to Daily Paws for the amazing story and pictures.
