When a family in Salt Lake County heard about the heartbreaking news of their senior dog Maggie’s fight with cancer, they wanted to give her the world.
The family wanted to make her last weekend with them filled with her favorite treats, toys, games, and belly rubs.
When the community heard about Maggie passing away, they, too, jumped in to help. The entire neighborhood wanted to see the senior dog roll and play in the snow before departing from this world.
When the local Ice Center read the owner’s appeal and Maggie’s story, they immediately offered to collect ‘Zamboni snow’ for the senior dog.
On Monday morning, the Salt Lake County Ice Center staff met Maggie’s family at dawn. Together, they unloaded buckets of freshly crushed snow into their backyard.
A perfect snow bed was set for Maggie to play on before the family said their last goodbyes to her.
Before leaving this world, Maggie spent her day relaxing in the snow surrounded by the people who love her the most. Maggie’s family later posted to Facebook, “We are incredibly grateful that our sweet girl spent her final moments surrounded by immense love and comfort. We are absolutely heartbroken, but have found comfort in knowing we gave her the best life and the most gracious passing,”
Sweet Maggie is now in heaven watching over her loving family, who showered her with love before she left this world.
