Most animal shelters all across North America are already overcrowded. An animal sanctuary in Toronto called Dog Tales Rescue and Sanctuary needs people to adopt or foster the rescue dogs they have to free up space. This particular animal shelter takes in all kinds of animals, such as cats, dogs, and even farm animals.
Dog Tales Rescue and Sanctuary can only rescue more animals if they have space in their shelter. Unfortunately, they’re constantly overcrowded with fewer people coming in to adopt. Many dogs and other animals living in kill shelters are running out of time. If Dog Tales Rescue and Sanctuary don’t free up space, they won’t be able to pull these animals from kill shelters and give them a second chance.
One of the dogs they have in their shelter is a Cane Corso named Sophie. When she was surrendered to the sanctuary, she was terrified of people. Every time that a person approaches her, she acted like she expected to get hit.
Before Sophie was rescued, she lived in a garage her entire life. She was abused and neglected by her owners and was never socialized with other humans and dogs. Sophie didn’t know how to act when around other people and animals and had difficulties trusting anyone.
People who went to the shelter looking to adopt a dog walked past Sophie’s kennel. Sophie may not seem affectionate at first but she transforms into the sweetest girl once she trusts a person. Once she trusts a person, would curl up on that person’s lap and give them unconditional love. Sophie is probably one of the kindest and most loving dogs who just needed a family that treats her well.
The animal shelter eventually decided to make Sophie a part of their Foster to Adopt program where people can take Sophie home for up to two months to see if she’s the right dog to adopt. Sophie definitely deserves a loving forever home and this program will surely help in getting her adopted. Here’s a video featuring Sophie and the other amazing dogs in the Dog Tales Rescue and Sanctuary’s Foster to Adopt program.
