When a Vietnam veteran was hospitalized to hospice care last week, he just had one wish: to see his beloved dog, Patch, before his death.
John Vincent, a Vietnam veteran, was admitted to the Raymond G. Murphy Veterans Affairs Medical Center’s Hospice Center last week.
He took the agonizing decision to give his favorite dog, Patch, to Albuquerque Animal Welfare because he had no family in New Mexico.
Knowing he didn’t have much time left, the Marine just had one request: the chance to say farewell to his beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Patch, who was six years old.
However, Albuquerque Animal Welfare personnel brought the Patch to the Hospice Center for the reunion.
“It was such a beautiful moment!” they wrote on a touching Facebook post. They were overjoyed to see each other and say their goodbyes. It was an honor to fulfill this veteran’s last wish.”
When news of John Vincent and Patch went viral, many people offered to adopt the puppy. He’s now living with a beautiful new family.
