A little dog’s bravery in defending its 10-year-old owner from a predator was captured on video. A Yorkshire terrier, which weighs between five and seven pounds, took on a wild beast several times its size.
According to CCTV footage, Lily Kwan screams for help while pulling Macy, her 6-year-old rescue Yorkie, by the leash as a coyote pursues them.
The 10-year-old had lately read notices in the neighborhood saying that a coyote was chasing children.
“I wondered, Am I next? What will happen to me?” Lily remarked.
She claims she had no choice but to let go of the leash since Macy refused to follow her.
“I dashed to the pavement and screamed for help, but no one heard me,” she explained. “I saw a coyote try to attack my dog, so I went about ringing doorbells and knocking on doors. However, only one of my neighbors really allowed me in.”
According to the footage, Macy turns around and fights the coyote, protecting Lily.
Lily described her as a “very brave dog.”
“I really believed this tiny dog could protect this gigantic person, attempting to fight off this huge predator,” said the owner.
Macy was at the veterinary hospital’s intensive care unit on Tuesday, undergoing surgery to heal multiple puncture wounds caused by the wild animal. The dog is likely to recover completely.
Lily’s mother was out at the time, but she has now viewed the footage.
Dorothy Kwan remarked, “My dog will do anything for our family, so I’m not shocked she did it.”
She expresses surprise at the coyote’s bravado.
“I would never have guessed a coyote would come out during the day, and even with someone shouting and hollering, she was unfazed. Despite all the screams, it just kept coming after her and our dog. It was extremely combative,” Dorothy Kwan said.
according to Dorothy Kwan, other coyote sightings were reported in the area. The ministry, she was told, is using electronic collars to track the coyotes.
She expresses her disappointment that no one will capture them, but she considers herself fortunate that Macy lived and protected Lily.
Dorothy Kwan described her as “our little hero.”
Despite the fact that Macy recovered from surgery in a stable condition, the dog had to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The family set up a GoFundMe campaign to seek money for therapy, which is expected to cost between $4,000 and $6,000.
After the video of the dog’s bravery became viral, donations began flooding in, and despite the modest target of $10,000, the page now has over $26,000 in donations.
