This puppy trapped under the deck was freed by the firefighters. The little ball of fluff was ecstatic to meet his heroes.
Puppies can be counted on to do one thing: frolic. Be charming athletes. Be adventurous. On the other hand, they cannot be relied upon to keep themselves safe in the face of mischief.
Buddy, a 5-month-old poodle/pug mix from Davenport, Iowa, needed firefighters’ assistance last week to come out from beneath his family’s deck.
According to a video posted to the Davenport Fire Department’s Facebook page, rescuers removed the floorboards of the family’s deck in order to liberate young Buddy.
The little pup had apparently crawled beneath the deck to investigate when his leash became knotted, preventing him from crawling back out once he’d done smelling around.
According to WQAD, the owner called the department after an hour of trying to reach the howling dog.
She couldn’t reach him, which is when firemen pulled out the Dewalt and began working on the deck’s screws.
It turned out that all they had to do was remove one board in order to see the lovely puppy trapped under the deck. Buddy followed the light from the firefighters’ flashlights into the hole in order to assess their next move. He popped up through the newly made gap, tail wagging happily.
Buddy appears to be relieved to be free of his under-deck captivity, and although being a little scared, he seems to be uninjured and happy. That’s exactly how we like our puppies!
