After starving for months, this dog underwent a remarkable transformation. A little kindness made all the difference.
A rescue group from India, Animal Aid Unlimited, discovered the pup collapsed on the side of the road.
Initially, he looked like a pile of stones, his skinny body curled up in a ball as if trying to hide. Mange had almost completely wiped out all of his hair. In the way he posed, he looked defeated.
Despite being brought to the shelter, the little dog obviously lost all hope. In his little cell, he sat in a fetal position on his little mat, staring at the wall as he lay.
His rescuers refused to give up. They gently tempted him with biscuits until he propped himself up to try one, even though he wouldn’t respond to their touch and kindness.
The crisscrossed wounds and dying skin on his back were testimony to all he had endured.
“He was so exhausted and inward,” the shelter testified.
Sadly, being so cut off from humans, he had no idea what affection could be. An employee reached out to lightly stroke his head. He kept shaking it off to get rid of the contact as if it were a fly.
However, Animal Aid Unlimited knew he would be healed, both inside and out. And kindness is all that is needed.
In addition to hydrating him via IV, they medicated his damaged skin.
Even though his eyes were still heavy with sadness, his skin had healed in ten days. Despite cowering a bit, he appears to enjoy being bathed with soothing ointment.
Eventually, their care and love did the trick. Two months later, you would not recognize him. The white-furred transformed dog is embraced and petted by a volunteer as he pants happily in beautiful white fur.
A new friend pets his head as he lays sleepy on his lap as he drifts off to sleep.
This dog appears to be on the road to recovery, but the biggest transformation is in his eyes. He finally sees hope for the first time in months.
