It is a wonder why a person would abandon a puppy. Too many pups suffer this traumatic start in life because of the careless acts of humans. Thankfully for this pooch, things were different after being hit by a motorbike.
Kitty was one of those dogs who survived a traumatizing puppyhood. Abandoned at only two months old, her family left her alone to wander the streets.
It is very dangerous for a dog or puppy to wander the streets like a wild animal. Dogs have adapted to rely on humans and they require our love and care.
Lost and terrified, Kitty did not see what was about to hit her. She was struck by an oncoming motorbike in a flash.
Fracturing her back and leaving her immobilized on the road. The rider did not stop. Instead, they rode off leaving her to die in the road.
Then A Miracle Happened
Helpless and badly injured, she managed to maneuver herself off of the road. Then, a miracle happened. A local family drove by and saw her injured and crying out in pain. They stopped to help the poor little pup.
Realizing the grave danger she was in, they called Thailand’s Forgotten Dogs Program in cooperation with Headrocks Dogs Rescue. They took Kitty straight to the veterinary hospital.
Confirming she had a fractured vertebra (back), the veterinarians explained that she had complete paralysis in one hind leg and partial paralysis in the other.
The injury also caused her hind legs to turn backward. Unfortunately, she suffered severe wounds and bruising.
Even though Kitty was in really bad shape, she fought for her life after the motorbike accident
Kitty had a long road ahead to recovery. After intensive care, physical therapy, and daily wound cleaning she is getting stronger every day.
Pleasingly, she has shown slight functionality in one of her hind legs. She will require a wheelchair once she has grown bigger.
Being saved by the family who was kind enough to stop and help Kitty was fate, as they decided to adopt the precious pup!
Thankfully some good people stop and do the right thing.
Cooperative Projects such as those between Four Paws and Head rock dogs are driving change in the community by informing and providing emergency support to the people. Thank you for helping this abandoned puppy.
