Have you ever wondered whether your dog loves you as much as you love them? We all have different ways of expressing love for another. Some of us buy gifts for our loved ones, others will express love in words.
Dogs express love a little differently. So how do dogs express love? Here are some key behaviors that clearly indicate that your dog loves you.
1. They Are So Excited, They Just Can’t Hide It
When you arrive home, does your dog wiggle their bodies or jump around in excitement? Their love for you runs through their bodies and bursts into dance.
Compare their excitement level when greeting you to them greeting others. If your dog is quite unselective in their display, this is not the best indicator of their undying love for you. Some dogs are just very people-oriented.
2. Dogs Express Love With Their Facial Expression
Like humans, dogs express love through their facial expressions. Apparently, specific facial movements indicate that your dog is connected to you.
It is proven that lifting their left eyebrow or shifting their left ear back when seeing you are indicators that they love you. On the other hand, dogs show movement in their right eyebrow or ear if they are looking at a stranger or at something they dislike.
3. Eye Gazing
This is not just any stare. In fact, it is not recommended to actively stare at your dog in the eyes. There are many reasons why they could be staring.
However, a loving stare from your dog is the best indicator that they totally adore you. Eye contact induces the love hormone called oxytocin which deepens your love and trust for one another.
4. Yawning
There is a reason why individuals yawn one after another, and it is not because it is contagious. Apparently, yawning is a form of empathy. Dogs tend to yawn after their owners, have you noticed?
When this happens, they are empathizing with you and this is a clear indication that your dog loves you.
5. Dogs Express Love Through Intuition
How else do you know that your dog loves you? Because you can feel it. Explaining a connection cannot always be done through facts. Only you will understand your dog as you notice the little things that they do.
Maybe they put their heads on your lap, or they follow you around. What are the things your dog does that tell you that they love you?
