Great Dane Helps Boy With Cerebral Palsy Walk Again

There are good days and bad days, but all bad days turn into good days with a Great Dane beside you. This is a story of Hunter VanBrocklin, a fourth-grade student diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at two, and his dog Wendy.

Wendy is a Great Dane and Hunter’s best friend who stuck by him through all the bad days.

Earlier this year, Hunter had dysplasia surgery for his hip. Wendy, his dog, supports him with rehabilitation so the young boy can walk again on his own.

Wendy is a service dog and came into Hunter’s life three years ago. Since then, the duo has become inseparable. The Great Dane helps Hunter find his balance, and when he trips, she hurries to his side to help him up on his feet.

Wendy is always there to protect her hooman, whether it’s at home or the doctor. The two visit the doctor together, and anyone who enters the room must pass through Wendy before acknowledging Hunter.

Hunter loves to run and walk. The doctor agrees that the walker is not a good fit for the young lad. With the Great Dane around, Hunter becomes more active and stronger by the day. Wendy is helping her hooman by helping him stand on his own.

Hunter says, “I love Wendy because she helps me walk, and she gives me independence. She’s a buddy, and she’s with me all the time. She’s my best friend.”

“Walking is my favorite thing in the entire world. Wendy nudges me and helps me get off the ground when I fall over. When Wendy came to live with us, I cut down my falling to three times a day. Before, it was more like 500!”

Hunter is a kid with big dreams and aspirations. He wishes to climb Mount Everest with Wendy one day.

Thank you People for the amazing story. Thank you Hunter’s Heroes Gelato & Wendy for the video!
