Firefighters rescued the “lovely little puppy” from a storm drain after being missing for more than a week.
The firefighters rescued a little puppy from a storm drain after it had been missing since Halloween.
The small pet was spotted in a storm drain on Thursday. According to FOX 25, the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare and Oklahoma City Fire Department rescued the puppy.
After fire services rescued the puppy, they also posted a picture of it on Facebook.
In the photo, two firefighters stand side by side, while one cradles the dog in a towel.
The fire department wrote in the caption, “Station 19A assisted @okcanimalwelfare in locating and rescuing this cute little puppy that had been missing since Halloween. The firefighters rescued the dog from the storm drain and returned it to its owner in good condition. #furryfriends #thankfulthursday”
According to Oklahoma’s News 4, the fire department was called in to assist Oklahoma City Animal Welfare in rescuing the lost puppy.
The Oklahoma City Animal Rescue and Oklahoma City Fire Department were contacted for comment. But neither responded promptly.
The rescue in Oklahoma City follows two similar incidents in the previous year.
They rescued a deaf senior dog in August who spent two days stranded in a storm drain in Texas.
According to the Arlington Fire Department, despite being more than 400 feet from the drain’s entrance, rescuers were able to evacuate her after removing concrete and getting access to the pipe (AFD).
In October, a 4-year-old foxhound was rescued from a storm drain in Boston. He slipped into the drain while strolling with his owner.
Firefighters had to cut holes in the pipe and use a camera to track the dog inside. While the gas company used a backhoe “to dig past the dog.”
