As a small brown dog with a unique underbite came to the Wisconsin Humane Society in July, no one would believe he would have a hard time finding a home.
The woman surrendered this 4-year-old dog, named Payday, said he was a stray that she took in. But he didn’t fit in with her family. Payday had difficulty adjusting to his new life at the shelter. Despite his energy, meeting new people and the situation scared him.
He’s a little dog with a lot of personality
However, no interest in Payday materialized. The shelter’s media coordinator thought some publicity might help find Payday a loving adopter. Someone who could help him with his difficulties.
It turned out that they found much more than that. They received a phone call minutes after Payday featured on FOX6 News Milwaukee’s Adopt-A-Pet segment.
A viewer, Dwight, called in because the featured dog looked too familiar to him for him to believe
The volunteer had described a little brown dog with an adorable underbite as he woke up to FOX6’s morning broadcast.
Dwight turns off his TV every night but accidentally left it on this night – or perhaps fate.
Dwight recognized Payday’s picture with just one glance and couldn’t believe his eyes
A couple of years ago, during a walk at night Payday got loose and had not been seen since. The dog was a gift from Dwight to his then-10-year-old daughter, and she still misses him greatly.
Dwight’s mom, Melissa, raced over to the shelter to pick up Payday, and the moment he saw Melissa, he changed completely.

It is such an exciting reunion and to see him immediately recognize her family
Although Animal shelters primarily offer adoption services, they also reunite lost animals with their families. Witnessing it is a privilege.
Of course, Payday has been welcomed into the family’s home with open arms by relatives. Things are back to normal now. Now, the early riser, Payday, does not like going out at night and is always the one to wake everyone up.
He has two pittie dog siblings, and they’re thrilled to have him back. They started playing right away. It has taken Payday’s 15 minutes of fame to bring the family together again after two difficult years.
Thanks to The Dodo and Wisconsin Humane Society for the images and beautiful story.
