As a saying goes, desperate times call for desperate measures. It appears that the Cape May Police Department (CMPD) has taken this proverb too literally. As part of their mission to reduce crime in their neighborhood, they expanded their coverage to include canine offenders.
Indeed, even dogs are not above the law, no matter how adorable they are. According to reports, the department’s most recent non-human catch was a naughty stray dog that was creeping and sneaking her way into different yards in the neighborhood.
Now it was up to an officer of the CMPD to teach this runaway dog a lesson.
Patrolman Michael LeSage promptly drove to the reported location of the wayward dog, where she was discovered trespassing in a family’s backyard. LeSage wasted no time in apprehending the dog and requesting that she jump straight into his police cruiser. However, because the dog has short legs, the officer volunteered to help her up.
The dog appeared to be quite in good health and not neglected; hence, this trespassing dog has an owner. And the CPMD had devised a brilliant plan to rapidly locate the dog’s owner.
The officers took a mugshot of the stray dog, posted it on their Facebook page, and asked whether anyone knew who the dog’s owner was. The female dog was photographed spending the night in one of the station’s cells, and she appeared very at ease to be in jail.
The officers cared for the dog as they awaited for any leads concerning her rightful owner. And thankfully, because of their funny post, the dog’s owner came forward.
In addition to this positive development, another good thing resulted from this situation: the police station’s humorous post became viral immediately. It was well-received by numerous individuals who liked CMPD’s sense of humor.
According to the officers, they did not think that their post would become viral. They were pleased that so many people enjoyed it.
Hadley Hubbard, the owner of the runaway dog, thanked the CMPD for caring for his dog while she was on an adventure.
