A heartless 28-year-old man from Round Rock, Texas was arrested and charged with a third-degree crime for cruelly abusing his dog, Champ. According to eyewitnesses, the sadistic dog owner strapped his bull terrier to the back of his truck and dragged it for kilometers. And when he stopped doing this, he decided to purposefully run the dog over while driving in reverse.

Champ would have perished that day had he not been saved in time.

The witnesses of this heinous act quickly phoned the police, and when they arrived, they discovered an almost mile-long bloodstain on the road.

Both the dog and his owner were still in the area. The man was taken to jail by the police, and Champ was transported to the hospital.

All of the severe and excruciating damage to his legs, paws, and body necessitated immediate medical treatment. Then, the vets provided him with continuous attention, to which the dog responded positively to. He also got a lot of warmth and care of the medical personnel and began to recover.

Champ was satisfied and at ease with the attention and care he was receiving, especially after being served some delicious chicken nuggets.

This would not have been feasible without the assistance of the community. As soon as people learned of the maltreatment and abuse that Champ gone through, donations began to come in for him. The total amount exceeded $10,000. People also contributed toys, food, and blankets in addition to money.

The gifts aided not only Champ, but also the other rescue canines in the local shelter where the dog was situated.

When Champ was well enough to be released from the hospital, he was transferred to a nearby shelter. He has still quite a long way to go before he is totally recovered. That is why he is not yet available for adoption.

When he is ready, the team will find him a suitable home, one in which he will be truly cared for and not harmed.
