Meet Simba, a sweet and friendly Pitbull. However, because of his breed, some people find him frightening. And it was no different for this woman, Simba’s neighbor.
But the sweet pup proved everyone wrong.
Arjanit, Simba’s owner, lives with him in an apartment. Many building occupants would be wary of the dog and avoid him despite his friendly advances.
There was one neighbor, in particular, an older woman who lives a floor below them, who treated Simba coldly.
“He always tried to greet her, but she called him mean and looked at him with fear,” Arjanit recalls to The Dodo. She believed him to be a “bad breed” and, therefore, never liked him.
Simba, however, never disliked the woman, as his sweet behavior soon demonstrated.
Arjanit and Simba were returning from a walk the other day when, on their way up the stairs, they passed by the neighbor’s unit. The dog then began acting strangely.
He just stopped. Then he began barking and tried to run to the neighbor’s door. Although he tried pulling on Simba’s leash, Simba wouldn’t budge.
Arjanit went to pick him up. He then heard a faint sound coming from inside – A weak voice cried for help. Please don’t go, the woman said.
Arjanit opened the unlocked door, finding his neighbor on the floor.
The woman had broken her hip and been collapsed for a while. Two days had passed without her being noticed. Her life was in danger because she was unable to move.
It was just in time that Simba sensed her.
Simba and Arjanit waited with their neighbor until the ambulance arrived. A dog she never liked had just saved her life.
All of that changed in an instant.
“Thank you for hearing me.” The woman said.
Initially, Arjanit thought she spoke directly to him. But then said, “No, not you — the nice doggie.”
As it turned out, that “bad” dog actually had a big heart.
While the neighbor is still recovering, Simba has earned recognition as a hero.
His fellow building mates are now gifting him with treats and more. Arjanit hopes Simba’s actions that day will lead to a shift in attitudes towards these types of dogs.
Arjanit hopes that people will perceive Pitbulls differently after this event. It is our duty to earn their loyalty and love as human beings.
Simba has plenty of love to share.
