Ginger, a rescue dog, is an affectionate mother and not just to her own babies.
All of Ginger’s puppies got adopted and found loving families. The rescue dog realized her motherly instincts might be helpful to someone else. That’s when she met an adorable set of foster kittens looking for a mom.
Ginger’s mom, Susan Hicks, who rescued the dog four years ago, has been fostering kittens since 2018.

Every time new kittens come to their house, the rescue dog is thrilled to shower her motherly love on them. The kittens love Ginger, and they all have a great time together.
The kittens usually arrive at the Hicks’ home when they’re too small, weak, and have just begun exploring the new world. The small kitties crave love, comfort, and joy – which the rescue dog provides them with.
Hicks said in an interview, “Ginger is like a living, breathing, snoring body pillow for these kittens.”
The kittens soon become comfortable with the rescue dog and other dogs. This is a huge bonus for potential adopters with other pets.
“People will reach out to me saying, ‘I want one of your kittens because I know that they’re good with dogs,’” Hicks added.
When it’s time for the kittens to leave, Ginger often gets sad. But she knows there will be a new set of kittens, and she can be a great mother to them.
