Overprotective dogs can be quite a nuisance, especially when their owners are expecting the delivery of some packages they have ordered. This is what a dog named Loulou showed. She would attempt to bite each deliveryman who entered their front gate.
The owners realized that they needed the help of a professional dog trainer. They contacted Victoria Stilwell, a well-known dog trainer.
Victoria visited the home of dog owners Mario and Dianne. They were unable to determine how to stop Loulou from attacking delivery employees.
The dog trainer showed the couple an effective method for convincing Loulou that her behavior was wrong. Whenever Loulou attempted to bark at someone at the front gate, she was taken back inside the house. If Loulou is brought outdoors and does not bark, she is given a treat.
Dianne was astounded by what she saw. Loulou stopped paying attention to the stranger outside their home for the first time.
Victoria requested that Dianne repeat what she had shown them. The trainer also underlined that it will take some time to break Loulou’s habit. However, Mario was concerned that his wife’s laziness may prevent her from continuing to follow Victoria’s recommendations.
After training Loulou, Victoria also trained Buster, the couple’s second dog. He is a puppy who needed instruction in impulse control.
If Buster was able to resist the treat that was on Victoria’s right hand, he got a reward which was on Victoria’s other hand. In a short period, Buster was able to manage his impulses. Dianne and Mario’s jaws dropped as they watched this happen, as they never thought that this was possible.
Even after leaving the couple’s residence, Victoria continued to follow up on the development of the dogs. Dianne continues to struggle with training Loulou, but they were somehow improving. Additionally, the couple’s relationship with their dogs had also improved.
