For most dog owners, their worst nightmare would be when their pet goes missing. They would put in a huge amount of effort to find their lost dogs. And when they are reunited, dogs quickly recognize their owners most of the time.
However, what happens when a found dog no longer recognizes its owner? The following story should tell you this.
A South Korean couple living in the mountains once lost their dog. Terry the dog decided to flee and his owners were distraught when they couldn’t find him.
Exactly three years after the incident, another dog that looked like Terry was spotted in the area. The couple, who had relocated, returned to their former residence in the hopes of finding their lost dog.
When the pair traveled to the area, they brought precious mementos for Terry. They believed that by placing the things on the ground for Terry to see and smell, he would be able to identify them. Additionally, the owners called out to him, but he did not react.
At some point, the owners began to ask themselves whether the dog in the mountain was truly Terry. Thankfully, there was a way to verify this. Terry has a scar on his body as a result of having undergone surgery in the past. If they find the scar on the stray dog, they will know it is him.
The pair managed to capture the stray dog with assistance from local animal rescuers. The animal was quickly transported to a veterinary clinic to be examined for surgical scars. Terry’s owners had to nervously wait for the results.
The veterinarians were unable to find any surgical scars. The medical examination revealed no indications of a previous injury.
The couple was devastated by this news. The dog they believed to be Terry was actually another dog the entire time.
Despite their disappointment, the pair still wanted to help the stray dog. They chose to be his foster parents until he could be adopted. They promised to treat him like how they treated Terry.
