It is somewhat impossible to describe the kind of friendship we humans have with our dogs. But undoubtedly, love and friendship between a man and his dog have no boundaries. And this story of a man and his dog, an Alaskan Malamute says it all.
Recently, at the beginning of January, a young mountaineer got injured and stranded 5,600 feet up a mountain range in Croatia. Luckily for the mountaineer, he was climbing with his dog named North.
Darkness fell, and the temperature dropped, but the loyal pooch refused to leave his fur dad’s side. He guarded him and kept him warm until rescuers arrived.
A rescue team climbed the snowy mountain range. But severe weather conditions, broken tree boughs, and ice made the climb very difficult.
They reached the Alaskan Malamute, North, and his dad around midnight and managed to get the two some medical attention the following morning.
According to the rescue team, the mountaineer sustained some injuries. But fortunately, the pooch was there to curl up with him and warm up his dad with his body. North was also not injured or hurt.
And it was all thanks to North’s loyalty and commitment that the young mountaineer survived the night.
The Alaskan Malamute’s loyalty did not just end when the rescuers arrived.
He stayed with and guarded his dad for 13 long hours. Undoubtedly, we all can learn from him about caring for and loving each other. It is not every day that we get to hear such a story of loyalty.
Now, the Alaskan malamute is home, relaxing and getting lots of pets and treats from his family. Meanwhile, his dad is to recover fully as days pass.
North is rightfully a hero. Despite that, for this loyal dog, what he did was only what any true friend would do — and that is making sure his best friend gets home safe.
