Chipper’s disappearance left his owner, Travis Allen, in total despair. Worrying if he would ever hear Chipper’s howls of joy ever again.
Allen and Chipper were visiting family in Georgia for Christmas when he got loose. Allen desperately searched the area for days and contacted all the businesses and animal shelters. No one had seen Chipper.
The Search
Allen had no choice but to drive back home to North Carolina without his best friend. He was heartbroken. He continued his search from home.
One of the places he had contacted was a dog boarding facility called Endless Love Pet Palace. Sheila Kemp, the owner, wrote on Facebook.
“I felt the heartache and sadness in his voice, and I felt that we were supposed to help him. We were going to do all we could to find him.”
And so they did. In Allen’s absence, they set up posters and live traps in the area. They even had a search force go out looking for Chipper.
Hope
Weeks went by but the volunteers persisted with their search. Then, finally, a lady called in and said she thinks she has Chipper. She had picked him up around two weeks after he wandered off.
After noticing that he was in bad shape, she took care of him. It was a happy moment for her to see the poster and to reunite him with his owner.
Reunited & Howls Of Joy
Kemp was delighted to confirm that it was Chipper she had found. She called Allen to give him the news he had been longing for. They prepared for the big reunion.
In the Endless Love Pet Palace video, Chipper greets Allen, gently licking him, clearly taking some time to absorb this information. Then, he could not hold himself back.
He howled and howled. Howls of joy. His person was back. Howling with all his heart. He is going home.
