Spitfire, the 8-year-old Whippet, is not your ordinary lap dog. He is a professional athlete and has achieved the unimaginable.
Dock Diving is a sport for dogs where they compete in jumping for height or distance. They run from a dock and jump up to grab a bumper hanging from the ceiling and then land into the water.
Soaring through the air like a flying squirrel, Spitfire leaves us in complete awe. They describe him as the Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, or Tiger Woods of dock diving.
When the camera is not in slow motion, he looks like a bullet. Spitfire can reach up to 30 miles an hour. His personal best jump reached 8ft and 6 inches high and his best distance jump reached 30 feet. It is a real eye-opener to see how high and how far these athletes can jump.
And, quite deservedly so, spitfire is proud of his achievements.
Just loving his life as an athlete, he struts around with absolute confidence. And this is no wonder. The life of a dog athlete is simply luxurious. His meals consist of only the best quality proteins and natural supplements.
Just like an athlete, he receives a lot of pampering. Routine massages and bodywork keep his joints and muscles healthy. In addition to this, he also goes for regular acupuncture, to help with circulation and relaxation of the muscles.
In the 2018 championship, the competition was extremely tough. Spitfire competed against another famous young pup named Sounders.
Sounders managed to jump a distance of 25 feet, Spitfire had to reach 26 feet to win. And, of course, he did it! This is Spitfire, the champion.
So what makes this incredible Whippet so great at what he does? He simply has the drive. He loves to chase things and he loves water. Giving it his all, simply following his heart. He will do his best because he loves his human companion and best friend.
