Dogs are great companions. They comfort you when you need it most and they are always there with a tail wag when you come through the door every day. And, they want us to do lots of fun exercises with them.
Now that may not always be one of your favorite parts of having a dog. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get a dog, because some dog breeds will have a more lazy lifestyle, that you can check out here.
But let’s get back to the fun exercises that you can get up to with your dog if you want to keep your dog (and yourself) fit:
Active Exercises
The whole family can take part in these fun activities! To begin, you can play tug of war, throw a frisbee, or play fetch. Additionally, you can do some trick training. In addition to physical activity, this enhances your dog’s coordination and muscle tone.

They can also improve their muscle tone by learning obedience skills. Teach your dog the commands “sit”, “lay down”, “stand”. You can even teach them to do doggy pushups.
Agility Courses
Make your dog’s life interesting with homemade obstacle courses. You can build these courses from items found around the house.

Ensure that the structures should not be too high and should be appropriate for your dog’s abilities. It will also engage your pup’s mental focus as he learns to obey your commands and navigate a new environment.
Swimming Exercises
One minute of swimming is equal to four minutes of running. Dogs love water play, whether it’s in your backyard pool, running through the sprinklers, or going to the lake.
Whether they’re chasing a water toy you threw in, jumping in or swimming laps, they’ll never run out of things to do.
Always watch out for signs of tiredness in your pup. Because the excitement sometimes makes them forget to take a rest.
Walking and hiking
You can start your dog on walks in your neighborhood if they aren’t used to lots of physical exercises. Build your dog’s confidence by starting with a short walk and keeping the same route.
Whenever your pup has gotten the hang of your routes, then change them up a little and make them longer. As you change your routine, your pup will be exposed to new smells, sounds, and environments, which will keep them mentally engaged and happy.
You can then increase your pet’s activity level by taking them on long hikes at a greater distance. You will want to make sure they are dog-friendly and packed with all the necessities for an outdoor adventure.
Doggy Daycare
Are you looking for a place for your dog to get regular exercise in a safe and fun environment? Pet daycare provides dogs with an open-play environment to socialize and participate in healthy physical and mental exercise.
Your dog will learn positive behavior by engaging with other dogs and humans, engaging in brain activities, and burning off their energy through endless play with certified canine coaches.
Several of the facilities offer live webcams so that you do not miss anything. The best part is, when you pick up your pup, they will be tired. But well exercised, which means they’ll be calm at home.
Of course, your dog will love doing exercises with you. They also see it as an important bonding session with the pack. So make sure the whole family is involved. It is not only good for them, but you will enjoy it too.
