When Lucy was found, the people who found her realized she’s been used for continuous breeding and that she’s been abused. She’s a super sweet beautiful Golden Retriever, but although those who found her try to locate her home, no one claims her.
She’s got a mellow cast-down personality, doesn’t make eye contact, and is just scared, especially of men. As she’s petted and receives positive attention, she slowly starts coming out of her shell.
When she first gets food, she won’t even touch it unless she’s hand-fed. She seems afraid to even take the food. No one knows what happened to cause this.
She sleeps in the corner of a gym and really doesn’t want to be around people, but when she hears other dogs she seems to find some of her spunk back.
The Asher House dog pack all sniff her in the backyard and befriend her. Her docile personality makes it easy for her to get along with all the pups.
It only takes one week for Lucy to start going outside on her own, without a leash, walking with her pack, and looking much more comfortable.
As the owner releases the dog pack to off-leash run, Lucy takes off with the rest of the dogs. This happens slowly, but much more confident in herself. As the dogs go for a walk in the woods, each dog does their own thing and Lucy walks nicely along with the whole pack.
You can visibly see the transformation in her, physically and emotionally. It’s like she remembers again the freedom and the joy of being a Golden Retriever.
Even though the first week looked almost hopeless, Lucy was able to bounce back and enjoy her new second chance.
Thank you to The Asher House for the beautiful video and images
