There is something about sports games that bring spectators far and wide to the stadium. But for this soccer game in Gori, Georgia, spectators were entertained by a much different (and a lot cuter) player on the pitch.
On 8 October 2018, during a National Football League match, the game had to stop because a stray dog ran onto the pitch. But the black pooch was not really interested in the game, nor the ball. But was much more interested in the players and getting belly rubs.
Watch the video here:
The stray ran to the closest defender. But the defender showed no interest in giving him any rubs and cuddles, so he ran on. Running around the pitch while the crowd goes wild, cheering him on.
The goalkeeper tried to call the pooch. But every time he got close, the dog would think he wants to play. Jumping and bowing down to say “let’s play”.
Then rolling onto his back for some belly rubs, leaving the spectators with much love.
The keeper had to keep his glove away from the teeth of the stray. The dog might have not given them back if he got hold of them. But the keeper did play with his paws and gave him a little head rub.
By this time, the players got the hint that this dog just wants to play his games with them. So to encourage this pooch off the pitch, the one player called, jumped, and ran with the dog. Which the dog enjoyed.
The dog halted the game for three minutes. Although the spectators at this soccer stadium did not mind the interruption.
In fact, they probably enjoyed it more than the game. I guess we will never know.
Thank you for enjoying this read. It would be awesome if you shared this with your family and friends. If you have any stories of animals interrupting sports games, please share them below.
