Have you met Bunny, the talking dog? Bunny is the sweetest Sheepadoodle that learned to communicate like a human using dog communication buttons.
In the video, Bunny introduces himself with a confident nod. Having an intelligent yet adorable expression on his face, you can’t help but fall in love with her instantly. She is about to leave you in complete awe.
Watch the video below:
Alexis calls him the conversationalist, demonstrating this by asking Bunny if she wants to go play, and she responds by saying “Yes Go Play”.
Using communication buttons to communicate, Bunny’s training is part of an ongoing cognition comparative study.
When Alexis first brought Bunny home she had one button at the door for the purpose of Bunny communicating her need to go outside. Having no expectations, it was unknown just how far Bunny could get with learning how to talk like a human.
Within a few weeks of training, Bunny was using it consistently to communicate her need to go outside to Alexis.
Because of this success, Alexis decided to add more buttons to the board and then devised a board based on the Fitzgerald key, a method used to help compartmentalize words.
Today, Bunny gets to have 2 to 3 doggy play dates a day as per her requests. She also loves to request walks.
Bunny can even understand emotions using the communication buttons
Bunny even understands what emotions mean, telling her person that she loves her!
Then, one day, Bunny tells Alexis that she is mad and Alexis asks Bunny “why mad?”
Alexis says that this particular interaction took 15 minutes. After asking her why she is mad, Bunny proceeds to press the button that says “ouch”

Alexis asked her where is her ouch and the bunny walks over to the board and says the stranger.
Asking her where is the stranger, Bunny responds with a paw. Walking up to Alexis she places her paw on Alexis’s hands and Alexis felt between her toes and found a foxtail lodged in her paw.
The fact that Bunny uses human communication to tell her that there is a problem with her paw is just incredible.

Alexis explains how fascinating it is to see Bunny explore different combinations of words to get the message across to Alexis when she does not fully understand what Bunny is trying to say.
Bunny’s capabilities are most intriguing and can definitely enhance our understanding of animals’ feelings.
You can notice how Bunny walks around in a circle helping her to think. The intelligence of dogs is clearly not fully understood by us.
Alexis says her favorite part about all this is building a trusting relationship with Bunny.

Feeling so close to Bunny, Alexis says their relationship grows every day. The more challenges they face and overcome together the stronger their relationship becomes.
As Alexis points out in the video if animals could start communicating to us about their pain that would be revolutionary and also gives us the chance to deepen our relationships with animals.
It is a step toward improving the quality of life for dogs.
Thank you, Alexis and Bunny for opening up new possibilities for us animal lovers!
