Recently, in Malaysia, a mischievous monkey snatched a two-week-old puppy named Saru and held him hostage for three days.
The primate held the puppy in its arms and ran up to an electricity pole. There, it sat at the top, eyeing the jungle below.
A passerby, Cherry Lew Yee Lee, shared, “It looked like it was treating the puppy as a friend or its baby; it was very strange. However, we still needed to save the poor dog because it appeared to have been starving,”
The mischievous monkey carried the puppy from tree to tree for three days while the locals watched. The residents tried their best to rescue the puppy when the monkey returned to the same area.
The people tried throwing rocks, woods, and bananas, but the mischievous monkey fled each time.
“The puppy looked tired and weary, but the monkey did not seem to hurt it. The monkey was just holding the puppy while it moved around,” said Lee added.
Finally, the locals decided to scare the monkey with firecrackers. The next time the monkey came to the scene, they lit the firecrackers on the ground.
The loud noise scared the monkey into dropping the puppy. Luckily, Saru was not hurt and fell into a cushioned jungle undergrowth below.
Later, a vet determined the puppy’s health and deduced that he was fine and only needed a good meal. The puppy is now home and resting well.
The locals reported that a particular gang of monkeys was parading the area and stealing food from the local houses.
After the puppy’s kidnapping, the residents believed that the monkeys might be responsible for other pet disappearances in the area as well.
