Joe Biden’s new puppy appears to be a German shepherd who enjoys fetching tennis balls. In the meanwhile, Major will stay with family friends.
President Joe Biden has a new addition to his family: a puppy named Commander.
On Monday afternoon, just after CNN reported the new dog’s arrival, the Dog Dad in Chief shared a photo of the puppy, a German shepherd, to Twitter.
The president’s social media aide wrote, “Welcome to the White House, Commander.”
At 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Commander will be the only canine. According to CNN, Major, Joe Bidens’ other German shepherd, has spent the majority of his time in Delaware since two biting events involving staff members earlier this year.
However, the White House’s first rescue dog will not return and instead live with family friends.
According to Michael LaRosa, First Lady Jill Biden’s press secretary, the Bidens spoke with pet professionals—veterinarians, behaviorists, and trainers—and pondered for months before deciding to rehome the young German shepherd.
According to CNN, Commander was a gift from Joe Biden’s brother and sister-in-law for his birthday in November.
Moreover, Commander joins the family six months after Champ, the family’s older German shepherd, passed away.
Joe Biden’s New Puppy, Commander, appears to be a lovely, cute youngster who enjoys tennis balls.
According to CNN, the youngster was born in September. He arrived at the White House for the first time on Monday.
What about the cat, though?
Joe Biden announced earlier this year that they were preparing to acquire a cat.
CNN reports that the female cat is on her way and will arrive at the White House in January after spending the previous six months in foster homes.
