A Las Vegas ice-skating Labrador Retriever Benny is among the few dogs that are exceptionally skilled in an unusual field.
One of the prominent honorees of the American Kennel Club’s Award for Canine Excellence (ACE), Cheryl DelSangro’s 8-year-old Labrador retriever Benny, was selected the American Kennel Club’s 2021 Exemplary Companion for his efforts with the NHL’s Las Vegas Golden Knights and several local organizations.
Benny rose to prominence thanks to his visits to Golden Knights hockey games at T-Mobile Arena, where he bedazzles fans with his bespoke skates.

According to the American Kennel Club, the idea arose in August 2018 when photographer Rick Vierkandt asked DelSangro whether her dog would participate in a cheer video for the Golden Knights (AKC).
Benny carried a hockey stick in his mouth and pranced around the rink chasing pucks in the video.
DelSangro had a lightbulb moment after seeing the video, as he realized that he could teach him to skate. He said that he had taught his daughter when she was 17 months old. He reasoned that Benny had greater balance than a toddler.
Besides, he has that special bond with the pet, which was required to train the animal to learn this unique skill in a short period.
In no time, Benny found his footing on the ice.
DelSangro told the AKC that no one expected the Labrador to learn to skate on his first try, let alone love the activity. Just watching him cruise around the rink would make any novice skater jealous.
Moreover, after the stunning discovery, DelSangro designed a set of special skates for Benny.
A friend of hers helped sculpt, using an altered dog boot at the top of the shoe.
The Delightful display for skill coupled with his unmatched cuteness captivates the spectators increasingly by the day.
