Coming to the shelter together, Hank and Gigi, were put into the same kennel as they had such a strong family bond. And instead of sleeping in their own beds, they snuggled together in one bed. Thankfully they won’t have to worry about being apart as they have been adopted together.
The kennel manager for Mahoning County Dog Warden in Youngstown, Ohio, Rick Tunison, caught the Weimaraner-pit bull mixes in March.
Being on the streets for a very long time, the two likely siblings were hard to catch. They could tempt Hank with canned food to get him into the van. Thankfully Gigi, not wanting to leave her brother alone, also got in.
For their safety, they should go into separate kennels. But they kept breaking through the doors to get to each other. Therefore, the staff allowed them to share a kennel.
They were probably so scared, they could not even be alone in one bed, so they had to share a bed. The staff then made the decision that these two must go together.
Rachel Harris saw a picture from Devon Carr, the shelter worker, on Facebook of these two siblings cuddling. She just moved from Chicago to Dallas and wanted to get dogs after she settled. Well, she didn’t get to settle before her heart melted at the family bond.
Being over a thousand miles away, Rachel had to really convince the shelter that she was perfect for these two. Two of her animal rescuer friends put in a good word for her and handled the transfer of the dogs to Texas.
They are so happy to be in their new home together. Rachel created an Instagram page for them so their fans can keep updated.

They are sweet, clever, and inquisitive dogs. They now also give much love to their new mommy and not just to each other. But they will give everyone a kiss when visiting.
They have settled in so much that they don’t (always) sleep together. This is a good sign that they can relax and be comfortable.
