There are many dads out there who claim they don’t want a dog. In the end, when they actually get to know a new dog, they are in love. But this dad doesn’t tuck this feeling away, instead, he tucks his new best friend in bed every night.
This particular father had a reason for not wanting a dog. Because he said he couldn’t bear to lose another four-legged family member.
Alice Garrido Gallardo, the man’s daughter, however, understood the truth. It was clear to her that her dad deeply desired a dog but would never admit it to himself. In other words, he needed a little push.
Jean Grey was an abandoned pup who lived most of her life alone. Seeing her in need, a kind stranger helped to find her a place to call home. Gallardo, whom they knew to be a huge animal lover, was introduced to the pup.
Jean Gray would have been a perfect match for Gallardo. However, she knew of someone who would love her even more. Her father.
Gallardo’s dad was not interested in adopting the dog at first. He acted as if he had no interest in meeting her at all. Gallardo knew better, though.
“We had lost our old dog and he didn’t want another anytime soon. He was still grieving,” Gallardo explained.
She knew Jean Gray could brighten her dad’s day if he just gave her a chance. So, she arranged a time for the two of them to meet. It was like love at first sight. As Gallardo predicted, it was a match made in heaven.
Since her father adopted Jean Grey, they have grown closer every day.
The story of the rescue dog and the man who didn’t want another dog is so heartwarming. There is even a special bedtime routine the two of them now follow.

He first tucks her into a blanket tight around her so it is comfortable.
After that, he offers her a pillow so she can rest her head. Lastly, she is comforted by her stuffed animal as he says goodnight. It is accompanied by a beautiful song from Toy Story 2 called “When She Loved Me.” It is so touching.
It is very hard to lose a dog, but that doesn’t mean you can’t love another dog again. As with Jean Grey, there are so many dogs out there in need of a home.
Knowing when you’re ready for another dog takes time. But if you choose to adopt a rescue dog, you’ll feel good knowing you’ve saved a life. And you may be the next one who tucks their pooch to bed each night.
