Beanie is a special needs dog who has never had a hooman who loved her like Julie Elrod. She is a rescue, but what makes her special is that she is both blind and deaf. Dancing with a hooman has never been a possibility until she met Elrod.
Since Elrod brought the dog home, the two have shared an unbreakable bond.
Elrod has been dancing with Beanie every day since she adopted her from Rescue Dogs Rock in 2018
Elrod shared in an interview, “Since she is blind and deaf, I communicate with her through touch.”
@julieelrod1966 My blind and deaf daughter, Beanie. I would do anything for her. Anything ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ #dogs #animals #rescue #rescuedogs #cutedogvideos #cutedogvideos #cutedog #bff #bffs #bestfriendsforever ♬ original sound – julieelrod1966
Dancing has strengthened their bond, especially since Beanie didn’t like being touched.
When she tried to pet her when she first rescued Beanie, she would want to get away from them and be by herself.
“Now, every day, I do ‘slow dance therapy’ to hold her close and sway back and forth. Even though she can’t hear me, I also sing to her,” Elrod shared.
Every morning, the special dog looks forward to dancing around in the living room with her mom.
“She now trusts me totally, and she relaxes completely and melts into my body as we slow dance. I do not care what appointments I have or who I am supposed to meet. I make time every single day to slow dance with my best friend and soulmate.” Elrod added.

@julieelrod1966 I dance with my blind, deaf rescue baby every single day no matter what. I don’t care what meetings I’m late to, I make the time to dance with Beanie ❤️❤️❤️ #dogs #animals #rescue #rescuedogs #cutedogvideos #cutedog #bff #bffs #bestfriendsforever #adoptdontshop #maltese ♬ Both Sides Now – Joni Mitchell
Beanie did not know how to give love or receive love, and it was pretty clear that she wasn’t interested at all in learning about love. She had no idea about housebreaking and did not like to eat, so, even now, her mom has to hand feed her.
The special dog has been living with her mom for four years, and not a day has gone by when she doesn’t shower her mom with kisses.
“She shows me that she loves me in different ways,” Elrod said. “And she’s in my arms pretty much 24 hours a day. Wherever I go, she goes.” May they keep dancing for many years to come.
Thank you The Dodo for the story. Thank you Julie Elrod for the video!

Volunteer workers of Jersey Pits Rescue found an emaciated Pitbull tied to a pole inside a park. They knew for a fact that they had to act promptly and that it would be best to take it straight to a foster mom than bring it to the shelter.
