The night was long and quiet at the Odessa Police Department in Texas when a cute intruder walked in and changed things for the better.
The missing person—um, we mean a dog, surprised the officers, when he walked into the station alone.
It was almost midnight when the front doors of the Texas police station flung open, and a happy boy walked up to the reception.
What’s interesting is that this brave dog was by himself with no owner in sight. We’re assuming he just walked in inquiring about any vacant K9 position.
Regardless, the officers were glad their otherwise boring night had turned into an entertaining game of fetch with the happy boy.
While the brave doggo still had his collar on, his nametag was missing. The officers tried reaching out to the local animal control to locate a microchip but found no luck.
After a few rounds of playing, the handsome boy decided to resolve his own case; he walked out of the station as quickly as he had walked in.
So…. this happy guy randomly strolled into the front desk of the Police Department last night. We’re thinking he wanted to apply for a K-9 position after eliminating a Lassie type situation. He was given lots of love and attention until he decided it was time for him to leave. He let himself out and after an exhausting search was not found. We were relieved to learn he safely returned to his owner. Chico is welcome back anytime ☺️
Sergeant Martin said, “He ran out just as quick as he came in. The owner responded the next day, it was his dog, and he had returned home. He lives about a mile from the station.”
We’re glad Chico is back home safely with his family in Texas, but he will always have friends at the station who are up for a game of fetch.
