Dog Kisses are often misunderstood by dog owners. Dog lovers enjoy kissing, hugging, and snuggling with their dogs. Smooches and hugs are common ways in which humans show affection for each other.

You can’t get a better feeling than hugging your favorite furball as you watch TV or just relax on the couch.

First of all, licking in dogs (and humans) is often an instinctive act. Dogs can be taught to kiss as a sign of affection. It becomes an innate response to positive attention.

Licking is how dogs learn about their environment, just like sniffing. When dogs lick, they seek information about where you have been or what you have eaten for lunch.

Dogs release endorphins when they lick. IT gives them a buzz. The reason some dogs become obsessed with repetitive licking is that they have trouble controlling their impulses around licking.

The act of licking can be a sign of stress. By licking you, your dog is trying to relieve their anxiety. Observe your dog’s body language for any cues that indicate that boundaries have been violated.

If the situation escalates, it could lead to aggressive behavior. Your dog may erupt quickly into a BITE if he is particularly submissive. Because Your dog is trying to warn you to back off.

When a dog’s boundaries are overstepped by a child, he or she may suddenly turn on the child who he or she views as inferior to them and nip or bite.

Because of breed traits and individual personality traits, some dogs do not enjoy receiving kisses and hugs, since they view it as a sign of dominance.

Care should be taken when dealing with dogs adopted from rescues or from other homes as adults. Take it slowly until you’re certain the dog ENJOYS the displays of affection you give. Never let a child hug or kiss your adult adopted/rescued doggy.
